“From out of chaos and in direct contact with an individual’s mind.”
Drowning in all my good ideas
Drowning in all my good ideas
That was what Clarence Saunders, the founder of the first supermarket chain in America, said when asked where the name of his company came from — Piggly Wiggly.
I’m no Clarence Saunders (thank God, he had a massive gambling problem), but I understand that creativity seems to come from some abstract storm cloud of chaos. We, the brave writers and artists of the world, have to stare down the tempest with only a pen and Photoshop and say, trembling, “Stand down, bitch.” For a while, all that kept me from running was a love for the written word, but four years into my degree and a whole lot of late nights later, I’m not afraid anymore.
So I’ll continue to fearlessly embrace creativity and trust that whatever I write, it’ll be better than “Piggly Wiggly.”
